Bark In The Dark - FAQ/Accessibility
Accessibility
1. The venue is fully accessible to those with mobility devices:
-Ramps for access in and out of Buddies in Bad Times as well as to access the Cabaret Theatre and Ante-Chamber quieter space.
-Employee-operated lift to take patrons with mobility devices between lobby and Cabaret level, mezzanine level, and downstairs washrooms/coat check.
2. Venue lighting may be sensitive to those with epilepsy:
-Club lighting does not use strobes but lights do turn on and off semi quickly for colour and position changes.
-Ante-Chamber quieter space has non-changing lighting and will be open should you find yourself sensitive to the club lighting in the Cabaret.
3. Volume:
-The Cabaret will have DJs spinning all night, and the music is quite loud. If you find yourself in need of a quieter space the Ante-Chamber will be open and connected to the Cabaret by the bridge. Music will still be well audible in the Ante-Chamber but not as loud.
4. Washrooms:
-In the basement level (accessible by stairs and by employee-operated lift) are the gender neutral washrooms.
-There is both the large multi-stall gender neutral washroom, and the universal closing accessible washroom.
FAQ
1. Is the bar/entry cash only?
-The bar is not cash only, purchases can be made by card or cash.
-Box office entry cover fee is cash only, as is coat check ($2). There is an ATM downstairs and the box office can hold your ID while you use it. It’s easiest to bring cash, you may want it for the bar.
2. Can I leave and re-enter?
-When you pay to enter you’ll get a stamp by the box office (have a hand ready to show and receive that, fursuiters!) which will allow you to re-enter if you leave. However if the venue hits capacity (250) with new entries while you’re gone you may be denied re-entry, so do keep that in mind!
3. Can I wear my pup hood/latex/harness/other kink gear?
-Yes you can! If you would wear it to any other adult-only furry rave you can wear it here. Kink expression is a part of queer expression. Just don’t forget you’re at a club night, not a kink dungeon party so save naughty activities for after-parties. There’s a hotel right across the street should you find yourself interested.
4. Does the bar only serve alcohol?
-No! There is also pop, water and possibly juice at the bar, depending on what stock the bar has at the time. But no matter what there will be non-alcoholic options to enjoy as well. Drink responsibly and stay hydrated! But do enjoy the bar’s alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as often as you would like, bar sales are the primary revenue for the venue and will be a major deciding factor on how often we can repeat Bark In The Dark events at Buddies in Bad Times!
5. Can I bring my photography kit?
-Yes you can, and anyone with a desire to is encouraged. Sharing photos of the event helps us get by and continue doing events.
-Just keep in mind neither Bark In The Dark nor Buddies in Bad Times are liable for any damaged or missing belongings including photography gear! If you are worried about your gear organizers may be able to store extra stuff in the dressing rooms which are not public access to party attendees - please contact the organizing team to inquire about that, space is limited!
6. Can I bring my fursuiting kit?
-That depends of course. As said space is limited, there's not a dedicated storage area. Fursuiting is of course welcome, but do not bring kits in fursuit totes, pelican cases, etc. It's recommended to bring them in bags that can fold up, garbage bags, smaller tote bags, etc. It'll be easiest to come wearing your underarmor if you have that.
